Process control

General description

This course will be about the command of stationary linear systems in the field of chemical genius processes. In particular, the notion of dynamic model and feedback. The Laplace’s transformation will be used as a tool for the problems of analysis and synthesis of regulators, in particular throughout the notion of transfer function. The case of the PID regulator will serve as a reference and we’ll study its synthesis throughout the IMC method (" Internal Model Control "). We’ll also study some advanced command methods and some more complex command problems (delayed systems, multivariable systems, …). The course is based on the notions of mass and energy conservation, of chemical kinetic and of unitary operations and will be illustrated by examples from the chemical and biochemical industry.
