Renewables - Petroleum 5-0

General description

We use energy every day. It surrounds us in different forms, such as light, heat, and electricity. Humans have invented thousands of machines and appliances that use energy to make our work easier, to heat our homes, and to get ourselves from place to place.

Much of our energy supply comes from coal, oil, natural gas, or radioactive elements. These are considered non-renewable because once they are removed from the ground and used, they are not immediately replaced. During the burning of these fossil fuels, emissions (mainly CO2) are released into the atmosphere which impact upon our environment. The CO2 and other green house gas emissions have already induced excessive floods, draughts and intensified hurricanes and typhoons.

Fortunately, there are technologies that could change this situation towards a green and sustainable well being. Those energy sources are so called, renewable energy or green energy. Renewable energy replaces itself and is usually available in a never-ending supply. The use of renewable energy would considerably help towards the reduction of carbon emissions. Solar energy, wind power, hydropower, biomass and geothermal are the five forms of renewable energy sources, consisting the green energy group.

So, do you want to learn more about renewable energy? How does a solar car work? What is a bioclimatic house? How can we use hydrogen as a fuel?? This is the BEST way for you to learn everything you never dared to ask.

But our course is more than just lectures…imagine 10 sunny days in Greece!! You are going to enjoy the Greek “halara” way of life! Taste the famous Greek cuisine, drink OUZO and visit places of great historic and cultural interest. Don’t miss the chance to spend an incredible week here with us in Patras!!!
