Particle Windows Towards Cosmos

General description

The main emphasis of the course is on the concepts and the possibilities of understanding our Universe and how it has evolved in time. You will learn about the many fascinating objects that make up the Universe: black holes, gravitational lenses, active galactic nuclei, gamma ray bursters among other things. Much of our knowledge of these things come from studying elementary particles that travel almost unimpededly through cosmos.

The course aims to introduce you to this new and quickly developing area of science in a rather non-technical way, as well as to some of the physics that lies behind the detection techniques of elementary particles.
