Tasks & accountabilities
As members of the Galileo Mission Operations Team reporting to Airbus GSOp's Operations Manager (OM), the Galileo Mission Controllers (MISCON) will undertake system operations tasks and duties to operate the Galileo mission segment as required to maintain the high availability of the signals broadcast by the Galileo satellites. The role of MISCON is an on-shift position, with a rota to provide 24/7 coverage of the operational position.
The MISCON will:
>Monitor the systems which indicate the health and status of the Galileo mission control and communications network elements
>Execute defined procedures to manage the Galileo networks and associated mission control elements, in accordance with the scheduled operations plan, ensuring that safety criteria are respected at all times
>Identify anomalies on the network and ground systems, and escalate accordingly
>Take corrective action as necessary, applying the approved contingency procedures
>Prepare mission segment and network operations reports for off-line evaluation and analysis
>Work with the Engineering Support Team for mission segment corrections or improvements
>Interface with other internal and external teams, in particular with the operations team active at the alternate Galileo Control Centre

Requirements
Candidates with the following skills and experience:
>Educated to degree level in Engineering / General Engineering or equivalent
>Thorough and practical understanding of good systems engineering processes
>Experience of operating real time operational computer systems
>Experience in Galileo Operations or >Engineering would be an advantage
>Experience in operating air traffic control, spacecraft, data communications or related ground systems would be an advantage
>Good inter-personal and communication skills
>Negotiation level in English; German and/or Italian skills would be an advantage
