THEMATIC NETWORKS
A Thematic Network (TN) is
a co-operation between departments of higher education institutions and other
partners (e.g. academic organisations or professional bodies). It is created to
deal with forward-looking, strategic reflection on the scientific, educational
and institutional issues in the main fields of higher education.
If you want to know more about them visit the European Unions site about thematic networks.
- Teaching and Research in Engineering in Europe (TREE)
This thematic network is a continuation of an earlier program called E4, in which EduCo and
BEST took part. It was a 3 years project (2004-2007) but after the good results, European
Commission gave one more year grant to disseminate the outcomes. TREE is divided in a lot
of smaller projects called Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and BEST is leading two of them:
undergraduate research and the role of extracurricular activities.
- EIE-Surveyor
This Thematic Network is meant to be the reference point for electrical and information engineering in Europe. BEST participates as the
sole student organisation involved in the project and is an active member of the monitoring team of the project.
- Seminars Promoting the Use of Technologies for Networking and International Collaboration (SPUTNIC)
This thematic network is a follow up project of a previous promoted TN
Project by EuroPACE called REVE (Real Virtual Erasmus). BEST was one of
the members of REVE TN project and was official invited to
continue participating and developing the work in this new approved TN
Project called SPUTNIC.
- Virtual Mobility Before and After Student Exchanges (VM-BASE)
- Education and Research in Biosystems or Agricultural and Biological Engineering in Europe (ERABEE)
PARTNERS
Networks:
- International Federation of Engineering Education Societies (IFEES)
The International Federation of Engineering Education Societies, or shortly
IFEES is the network organisation of worldwide societies who are dealing
with Engineering Education. It is based in United States and have more than
40 members from different continents. It is founded in 2006. BEST is the
only student organisation as founder and currently only student organisation
member. Omer Hantal, the President of BEST and an EduCo member, is in the
Executive Committee of IFEES for the period of 2007-2009.
IFEES will work to establish effective engineering education processes of
high quality around the world to assure a global supply of well-prepared
engineering graduates. IFEES will strengthen member organisations and their
capacity to support faculty and students.
Organisations:
- European Federation of National Engineering Associations (FEANI)
