Over half of the world population is now online. More data has been generated in the past two years than in the entire previous history of the human race. In the age of the fourth industrial revolution, the vast amount of data produced daily opens the doors to brand new technologies to exploit it. Do you want to be one of the people with the key to these doors?

Data science doesn’t only consist on millions of numbers but also includes how to use them in order to improve already existing technologies and make them smarter. From data and personal security, trading, medical diagnosis to our everyday online search, mass data processing and machine learning prove to be a major step forward for humanity.

During the course we will focus on different aspects: -Machine Learning -Big Data -Supercomputing (Barcelona homes one of the most powerful supercomputers in the world, which we will try to visit)

At the end of the course, participants will have an overview on the latest computational techniques and technologies to process mass amounts of data.

Information for applicants

Selection criteria:
Based on the motivation letter, topic interest, answers to our questions and overall creativity.

Practical arrangements

All of the following are covered by the event fee:

Lodging:
Hostel during the course and 'masia' during the weekend trip (catalan name for typical house in the countryside).
Meals:
Participants will get 3 meals per day prepared by the organisers. At least one of them will be hot. There will be also coffee breaks between lectures.
Transportation:
Days in Barcelona: mainly on foot and public transport. Weekend trip: we normally book a bus which takes participants to the weekend trip house and back to Barcelona.
