Content and topics:
Overview of the whole power system of any country and its components, namely production of energy on different kinds of power plants, its transmission, distribution and power system control. Production, adjusting and main principles of operation of power engineering equipment. Problems the energy industry is facing now, their probable solutions and perspectives. The participants will attend lectures, visit laboratories and utilities, take part into engineering competition and make a report devoted to innovations in power engineering.
Learning goals and objectives:
To know basic principles of organization and operation of power system and its elements. To recognise main advantages and disadvantages of different kinds of power plants. To learn the fundamentals of power engineering equipment: generators, transformers, circuit breakers, etc., their selection criteria and to simulate their operation.
